Plastique – A Surreal Fashion Story by Khara Pringle Photographic

In my Belfast studio, I recently created a series titled Plastique, a visual homage to the surreal and glamorous world of Art Deco imagery. This shoot was a celebration of bold creativity — merging fashion, form, and light in a way that feels both timeless and dreamlike.

Drawing inspiration from the elegance of 1930s aesthetics and the surrealist movement’s fascination with illusion, I used blur, reflection, and sculptural lighting to create images that feel fluid and otherworldly. Every frame in Plastique balances poise with abstraction — exploring how movement and stillness can coexist within fashion photography.

This collaboration brought together an exceptional creative team:

💄 Makeup: Paddy McGurgan, whose artistry added depth and dimension to each look with luminous, high-contrast finishes that played beautifully with the lighting.

💇‍♀️ Hair: Joanne O’Neill, who sculpted architectural, fluid shapes that perfectly echoed the surreal and polished mood of the shoot.

Working together in my Belfast studio, we crafted a collection of images that feel cinematic — a nod to a bygone era reimagined through a contemporary lens. Plastique is ultimately about transformation: how light, texture, and human presence can shift reality into art.

This series reminds me why I love what I do — creating imagery that not only celebrates fashion, but also emotion, concept, and storytelling.

If you’re looking for a fashion photographer in Belfast or Northern Ireland who understands how to merge creativity with strong visual direction, I’d love to collaborate.
